Why We Built It
When a beloved pet is in the later stages of life, understanding how they’re really doing on a day-to-day basis is one of the most important, and most challenging, parts of their care.
“Simply visiting a pet in their home at scheduled appointments sometimes isn’t enough to get a full picture of their levels of comfort and quality of life,” says Merel Taal MRCVS, DVM, CHPV, Founder and Director at Dignipets. “The pet might be anxious about seeing the vet, or they may not be showing their usual symptoms during that visit, and this can make it challenging to give an assessment. The app allows vets to work hand in hand with pet carers to get the full picture, and it helps carers to feel fully engaged and involved in their pet’s care too, which is important.”
The Dignipets app was created to close that gap: giving carers an easy, structured way to record what they’re seeing, and giving veterinary teams, rescues, family and friends the ongoing insight they need to provide the very best care.
What the App Does
The Dignipets: Pet QOL Tracker is designed to be simple and intuitive, even during what can be a very emotional time.
Track quality of life trends over time Carers can complete regular wellbeing check-ins, recording observations about their pet’s comfort, behaviour, and general health. Over time, the app displays these as visual graphs — making it easy to spot trends and changes that might otherwise go unnoticed.
Book appointments and consultations Through the app, carers can book online quality of life appointments and consultations directly with the Dignipets hospice team — no phone calls needed, right when they need us.
Share updates with vets and family One of the most powerful features is the ability to share QOL summaries and raise concerns directly with vets and family members. This promotes genuine shared decision-making and continuity of care across everyone involved in a pet’s journey.
Download QOL reports Carers can download detailed quality of life reports to share with their vet practice or wider family, so that everyone stays informed and up to date between visits.
Direct access to the Dignipets team For those moments when a carer needs reassurance or support quickly, the app provides direct access to the Dignipets hospice team — so no one has to face a difficult moment alone.
