We founded and developed Dignipets after seeing first-hand how difficult the final stage of a pet’s life can be—not just for the animals themselves, but for the people who love them.
Throughout our work as veterinary surgeons, we repeatedly met families who felt unsupported in the time between a serious diagnosis and making the decision to say goodbye. While clinical care was available, there was often very little guidance, time, or emotional space to help owners navigate one of the most important and painful moments they would face.
Too often, this final experience felt rushed, uncertain, or bound by the limitations of a clinical setting. We knew it didn’t have to be this way.
We believed that pets deserved something gentler. That, after a lifetime of companionship, the end of life should be handled with as much care, dignity, and thoughtfulness as every stage that came before it. And we believed that families needed time—to understand, to prepare, and to say goodbye in a way that felt right for them.
From this, Dignipets was created.
Our aim was simple: to offer a compassionate, unhurried alternative to traditional end-of-life care. A service that allows pets to remain in the comfort of their own home, surrounded by familiar sights, smells, and the people who love them most. A service that supports families not just at the moment of goodbye, but in the time leading up to it.
What began as a small, local service has grown into a trusted network of veterinary professionals across the UK, all sharing the same philosophy and approach. Every member of the Dignipets team is committed to providing care that is calm, respectful, and centred entirely around the needs of both the pet and the family.
